Presenting Artists

Beach scenes and cemetery angels are two of the things I most enjoy photographing. Two very different slices of life, beaches and cemeteries--one to which we gravitate, the other we avoid. But there is beauty in each.

Cemetery Angels are best imaged in black and white, simply because the medium accentuates the gothic feel of this crumbling statuary. Life at the beach, as life itself, is well captured in color. I like to do this in my own skewed way with a Holga--a plastic toy camera, the blind spot in the photographic landscape. To accentuate its imprecision (lens distortion, light leaks, and vignetting), I shoot decades-old slide film and cross-process it to make the colors shift and the world more intense. A Holga book is in the works.
