Artist Statement:
Photographer Luke Kageyasu Haggerty specializes in Fine art and Commercial Photography, although he has received training in all genres. He began his studies at Philadelphia Community College then continued his training at Brooks Institute of Photography.
Equally comfortable working in the digital and film mediums, Mr. Haggerty’s particular gift is the ability to bring inanimate objects to life, and to capture the spirit of living beings in the space of a single frame.
Mr. Haggerty is widely traveled having lived on both the east and west coasts and states in between and spending significant time abroad most notably in Japan, Italy and Holland. An accomplished athlete, he earned honors and scholarships in high school and college for football, track and field and wrestling. While on a sojourn to Europe, at 21, he discovered his passion and talent for photography.
Currently residing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mr. Haggerty shares a studio with his Rottweiller, Kurt.

Artist Statement:
I have been around photography since I was a little girl. My father was in the business and I remember going to studios, being at photo shoots, looking at all his portfolios... When it came to choosing what to study in college, it wasn't hard for me to decide it would be photography. I completed the photography program at Community College of Philadelphia. I have since been working as a professional printer and a freelance photographer.
The satisfaction that comes from capturing images, for me, is like no other feeling on earth; it is a passion in which I learn about myself and about life. I look for contrast, texture and composition in my work. I recently had the great opportunity to visit my beautiful country of Colombia, and I found myself not only taking the photos I enjoy, but also capturing the culture and energy of a place. I look forward to returning to Colombia, where I plan to delve deeper into this cultural study.

Artist Statement:
The extent of my training has been spent at the Tyler School of Art in North Philadelphia. Though, a notable semester was spent abroad in Cortona, Italy.
What has always drawn me to the painting medium is the simplicity of its substance. It is my primary tool, my outlet, and the gateway to my creation. I paint people, places, and sometimes even things, most of which I have never met, visited, or come in contact with. I am a true advocate of illustrations that are relative to a far away place. These are my outlets. There is something fascinating about working on a painting to the point where that place becomes believable, yet non sequitur.
Working from low sources such as mainstream cinema, computer games such as the Sims, and cheesy sitcoms relevant to such a broad public, I am attempting to make high art. I enjoy the relevance of these forms of media as the sources of paintings, for they are the quintessential to bringing these paintings back down to earth. I try not to predetermine painting too much, for I'm a believer of providing mystery for the viewer and even myself. Trying to explain my work is similar to waking up and trying to remember every detail of a dream.
