Presenting Artists

My name is Laura Fields and I’m a watercolor artist from Freehold, New Jersey. I was fortunate to be accepted to the New Jersey Governor’s School for the Arts in 1995.  My experiences in governor’s school became the impetus behind my choice to pursue an artistic career.

In 1996, I went on to become a student at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The challenges that awaited me there helped to excite and inspire me to push my talents to new levels.  Watercolor became my new passion.  Its level of difficulty and various methods of application were perfect for the insatiable appetite I have for challenge.  During the second semester of my junior year, I became the first illustration student from the university to ever study abroad in Rome, Italy. In May of 2000, I graduated, with honors, from the University of the Arts with a BFA in illustration.

My focus now is on children’s book illustrations, commissioned paintings and freelance work.  I’m presently working on illustrations of prehistoric animals and dinosaurs for the Carnegie Natural History Museum in Pittsburgh.
